Frightening
Halloween Props
Large or full
size Halloween props
and decorations can be real show pieces, particularly if
they are part of an overall theme.
Coffins and Caskets
Lay
a skeleton or creature prop in a coffin, casket or home-made crypt for a
really creepy Halloween display.
Classic Toe Pincher Coffin
- This
coffin, available for purchase from
The Halloween Connection, was
designed after the type used
during the Old West and just about everywhere else for that matter, and was
the kind of rough wood that coffins were made of the world over for most
common folk.
Once assembled, this classic coffin measures almost six-feet long.
While it is not quite wide enough for an adult, it is perfect to put a skeleton or other
Halloween prop in. Unlike most other coffin Halloween props, this
one can be shipped via UPS, saving a lot of money in shipping!
Sells for only $289.99
plus shipping.

Monster Mayhem
Nothing
say's Halloween like a skeleton hanging around the
house. Full size skeletons can cost anywhere from around
twenty dollars for a really cheap plastic one, to
several hundred dollars for a medical grade skeleton.
The "Bucky
Skeleton" is a very popular realistic
and full size
skeleton available as a Halloween prop.
Hanging
and standing props like the ones pictured on the right
are a great way to scare your visitors on Halloween
night.
If you
have a particular Halloween theme in mind, try to stick
with Halloween props that match that theme, rather than
a mish-mosh. We keep a full size skeleton hanging from
a noose in our living room closet year round!

Halloween Skeleton
website contains lots of useful information
and ideas for using skeletons, skulls and bones as
Halloween decorations.
High-End Animated Props
Full
size, haunted attraction quality animated props are
becoming more and more popular with home haunters. While
it is beyond the range of this article to go into great
detail about high-end animatronics, we will briefly
discuss three of our favorite animated Halloween props
that cost under five hundred dollars to assemble.
Flying Crank Ghost
The Flying Crank Ghost is a really spooky animated prop
perfect for a haunted house theme. It uses a full size,
animated marionette to give the illusion of a ghost
floating in the air. Using an electrically powered
armature, it is mounted to the ceiling and illuminated
with a black light. The unit costs around $200.00
including the ghost marionette.
Coffin Raiser
A prop raiser is a small pneumatic device with a
creature prop such as a skeleton or corpse attached to
it, that is mounted inside of a prop coffin. When
activated via remote control, compressed air fills
pneumatic cylinder and pushes the prop upwards almost 90
degrees, making it sit up in the coffin. These devices
cost around $350.00, plus the cost of the creature prop
and coffin. Requires an air compressor.
Barrel Jumper
A typical Barrel Jumper type prop uses an air compressor
powered pneumatic device, mounted in the bottom of a 55
gallon drum. A creature prop such as a zombie or
skeleton is attached to the pneumatic device, which is
activated via remote control to quickly pop straight up
out of the barrel when someone walks by. A classic is a
icky zombie mounted inside a drum painted with toxic
waste symbols and warnings. These pneumatic devices
start at around $350.00, plus the cost of a 55 gallon
drum and the creature prop. Requires an air compressor.
