Halloween Lights and Special Effects
Part
of your arsenal of Halloween decorations will usually
include an assortment of holiday lighting and special effects
including
strings of decorative lights, black
lights, fog machines and other such devices.
When used
in conjunction with other decorations and effects, lighting adds to
the overall effect and will help keep your decorations
visible to your guests in the darkness of Halloween
night.
Fog Machine
There's nothing like a layer of fog floating ominously
through the night air and/or creeping over the ground to
really give a scare to your trick or treaters. Use a fog
machine or multiple fog machines to fill the night air
with fog and put a real chill into your visitors.
Remember,
when using a fog machine indoors to have proper
ventilation. Also, glycol based fog juice can leave a
thin oily film on wood surfaces, making them slippery!
You can even build a
really cool "Fog Chiller" that makes the
fog hug the ground when it exits the fog machine for a
really creepy effect. More information can be found
about using fog machines and plans for building a "Fog
Chiller" visit the
Got Fog?
website for everything you need to know
about fog machines!
Simulated Thunder & Lightning
One of
the most popular special effects to add to a Yard Haunt
or Halloween Party is simulated thunder and lightning.
First there's that bright white flash of light, followed by the
deep rumbling thunder coming from your yard
haunt!
Our number one pick is the "Lightning Machine", available at the
Halloween Connection. This unit realistically simulates the
effects of both thunder and lightning better than any
other one we've used.
The nice
thing about this system is that it does not simply
repeat the same lightning/thunder sequence over-and-over
again, but is random like the real thing.
Music and Sound Effects
If you are having a yard haunt,
Halloween party, haunted house or just
want to have sound effects playing in the background to
greet your trick or treaters, then you'll want to check
this site out for ideas.
We like
to use
one or more portable CD players, set on continuous play, to add
background music and sound effects to our
Halloween
graveyard.
There's a
huge selection of Halloween sound effects and spooky
music CD's on the market. Using your computer, you can
even mix and match to create your own custom CD's.

out the
Halloween Music 101 website for more
